Shower Cabin

Practical Tips

In recent times, shower cabins have become a more and more popular option for bathroom furnishings. On the internet, you can find countless different models that differ from each other not only in appearance but also in the general type of design.

 OTHER CRITERIA SHOWER CABINS

In addition, there are many other criteria that should be paid close attention to when choosing a cabin. Finally, if you are going to purchase a shower cabin, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the typical mistakes that users face when choosing and installing. We would like to tell about the main points in this article.

What are the types of shower cabins?

Showers are usually divided into three types: open, closed, and combined. We propose to consider each of these varieties in more detail.

What are the types of shower cabins?

Showers are usually divided into three types: open, closed, and combined. We propose to consider each of these varieties in more detail.

OPEN SHOWER CABIN

This is the simplest option for integrating into the bathroom space. A distinctive feature of such models is the absence of a ceiling. The simplicity of the design does not necessarily mean the simplicity of the appearance of the shower stall. Any cabin can be beautifully decorated, thereby decorating the interior of the entire bathroom. The advantages of open showers include: • affordable price; • durability; • possibility of installation in a small room. We can also note the disadvantages of an open shower cabin: Lack of variety of functions. The functionality of open models is most often limited to a shared shower. Various modes, installation of a steam generator, and other additions are not provided. In such booths, you can only stand, in rare cases a folding chair is provided.

 Installation of the shower cabin

Installation of the shower cabin You will need to carry out installation work with piping and drainage. The obligatory presence of a powerful hood. As steam penetrates into the room, the humidity will rise, which negatively affects furniture and household appliances in the bathroom.

Closed shower cabin

In this case, a completely autonomous design is meant. These models include a shower tray, walls, and a top panel. The cab is on special legs that allow you to move it if necessary. Speaking about the advantages of closed shower cabins, it is worth noting the following indicators: • variety of functionality; • isolation of the cab; • ease of installation and dismantling. The most important advantage of closed cabins is all sorts of additional functions: rain shower, steam generator, hydromassage, and so on. The insulated structure keeps steam within it and does not negatively affect objects in the room. Moreover, closed boxes have good sound insulation characteristics. If to talk about the disadvantages of closed shower cabins – any of the closed cabins can cost much higher than relatively the same “open” model.

Combined shower cabin

These boxes include a shower tray or bath. Most often, combined models have a closed design, but there are some exceptions. The most important advantage of the combined shower cabin is its convenience, as the owners can use both the shower and the bath at the same time. In addition, various additions are provided in the form of a jacuzzi, voice control, and more. High cost and large size are the main disadvantages of combined cabins.

What to look for when buying a shower cabin?

It is worth talking about the criteria for choosing shower cabins separately. I recommend focusing on the following metrics:

• The shape and size of the shower stall. The most common models are in the form of rectangles, semicircles, squares, and quarters of a circle. The latter options are best suited for small spaces. When determining the size, keep in mind the height and weight of the “biggest” member of the family.

• Shower door

You need to make sure that it fits snugly against the walls. And if the model is two-sided – also must fit snugly to each other too. In addition, it is important to foresee the material of the door – plastic will be cheaper, but worse in performance, so I advise you to choose tempered glass.

• Shower cabin walls

These are the parts to look out for when choosing an enclosed cab. The materials are most often glass, plastic, or acrylic. Glass has a high cost and high weight. Plastic and acrylic booths are often made with various shelves and benches.

• Shower panel

Made of metal, plastic, or glass. Metal is naturally the most durable material on this list, glass is the most attractive and plastic is the most affordable.

• Shower cabin control

On the modern market, you can find models with mechanical, electronic, or touch control systems. In the first case, the usual levers and switches are meant, in the second – the buttons, in the third – a highly sensitive panel.

What are common errors in the selection and installation of shower cabinets?

When choosing and installing a shower stall, people often make a number of mistakes, which can lead to sad results in the future. We would like to list such most common shortcomings so that you can focus on them and easily avoid trouble.

• Shower stall height.

Often, manufacturers indicate the height of the box without taking into account the upper part, and it adds another 15-20 inches to the height. Consider the total height of the product before choosing and installing a shower stall.

• Technical clearance.

There should be a gap of approximately 1 inch between the walls of the bathroom and the shower stall itself.

• Dimensions of corner shower cabins.

At first glance, it seems that corner cabins are the most compact models, but it should be borne in mind that the front part of such a design protrudes quite strongly.

• The location of the legs of the shower tray.

If the legs are installed only at the corners, then the pallet may bend under the weight of the person on it. This can lead to cracks and further failure.

• Sealing walls and draining.

Failure to comply with the sealing rules can lead to water leakage to the floor, which can cause an unpleasant smell in the cab.

• Choosing the cheapest options.
Yes, choosing plastic models can save a lot of money. However, remember – such cabins will be the least reliable and durable.

As a result, the choice of a shower cabin is not a very difficult process. Based on the tips above, you can easily find the best option and avoid various troubles. Remember the main thing – the more accurately you think overall the nuances, the less hassle you will encounter in the future. And your shower will be able to serve you for many years.
